About the artist:
Eleanor Allitt is an English artist who originally trained as a textile
designer, and worked in various related design fields over a long
period. Over recent years her interest has turned to painting and
storytelling, and in
particular to the interpretation of ancient stories and myths.
About this work:
This fragment of Inanna’s ‘Descent to the Underworld’ is inspired by the
wall paintings of Thera (Santorini, Greece) as well as artworks in the
Sumerian galleries of the British Museum and the myth itself.
